Many applications are based on location based swiping systems. Apps like Tinder, Bumble, Grindr, and Hinge are some of the most popular dating apps on the market today. In 2015, eharmony.com reported that 50% of Americans were considered to be single. With this, it is also reported that 40% of Americans are using dating applications to search through individuals, to find people to have romantic interactions with. While everyone's motivations are different, there is a large demographic that is looking for hook ups.
